The Brickell name comes from the earliest known settlers of the area known as the Brickell family. William and Mary Brickell came to the Miami River area in 1871 where they established a home and trading post. There they purchased many acres of land and traded with the surrounding Miccosukee and Seminole Indian tribes. 

Constantly evolving, Brickell has changed radically over the last 20 years. Brickell is bordered by the Miami River to the north, Biscayne Bay to east, the Rickenbacker Causeway to the South, and I-95 to the west, Brickell is one of Miami’s oldest neighborhoods. Brickell is the heart of the Latin American financial industry, and home to many of Miami’s foreign consulates, as well as thousands of condo-dwellers. Beginning as a neighborhood of luxurious mansions over a hundred years ago, Brickell has become one of the densest neighborhoods south of Manhattan New York area.
